Moody Lavender Field

Writer: Beacon Photographic ClubBeacon Photographic Club

Last Thursday saw us pay a visit to the beautiful Inglenook Farm, in Rainford. I would recommend visiting this place during the day & enjoying a drink from the coffee shop. Unfortunately, the day we paid a visit, was a wet, drizzly evening, not the greatest to show of the beautiful Lavender in the field, that was just starting to come out in bloom. We had a good turn out from the members, with 3 junior members (youngest being only 5) joining us as well & not put off by the weather at all.

After standing around in the car park for a while, in the hope the rain would just do one (as it wasn't forecast), we decided to brave it & just go for it. We set off down the path, which leads straight to the Lavender Field (which was more open to the elements & not good for camera's). Some members braved it & got stuck straight into it, while other members decided to seek shelter from the large tepee they have on site. Those that braved the drizzle, had to contend with water on the front of the lens, which was a nightmare & not always to see when you're taking an image. One member had a cloth on hand & kept everyone's camera dry when he could. But over all & despite the the weather, I think the members managed to get some very pleasing results.

We spent about 2 hours there before we headed home, some members had already got off earlier on because of the weather, which was hardly surprising, as the drizzle was relentless. I was surprised at how many members stayed to the end, we do have some die hard photographers in the club, who were determined to get their shot. Well done to all those that came & as always, we look forward to seeing you soon.
