We started April by having the lovely Cat & Catherine back again. With the theme of 18th Century female fashion. Cat was very fitting for the French Revolution and was inspired by Marie Antoinette. While Catherine was more Regency inspired. These studio nights are always very popular and when we have two fantastic models, such as Cat and Catherine, who really bring the costumes befitting for their century, it's really easy to fill these nights. The members weren't disappointed by the models, the outfits, the lighting and when the images started coming in, you could tell they really enjoyed the night.
The following week, was a critique night. These nights are designed to help the members improve their photography and editing skills. Of course, we can only give constructive feedback, it's up to the members if they take it or not. The members are getting better at giving constructive feedback to others, but we know it's never easy. The idea is to help themselves get better at recognising what helps make an image more pleasing to the eye (composition) or with their own editing skills. So, by helping others, they may start to recognise the improvements in their own work. It was a great night and the images on display varied, which was lovely to see. There will be more of these to come over the year.
The following week we should of been indoors, with splash photography, but in all fairness the members had been indoors for weeks and with the forecast looking good, they wanted an outdoor event. So, the members headed to Southport to capture the stunning sunset it had to offer, before heading in to town after it had gone down, to do some long exposure photography. It was a cold night, with clear sky's, but the members battled through and carried on. It was certainly an interesting night, with police chases and a bloke who approached the members, claiming he was an alien and started name dropping a lot of famous people, who are also aliens. Now I do believe there is life outside our planet, but just think this bloke was high as a kite!
Our final week in April, should of been another studio event. But due to personal reason, our lighting expert had to take a step back for a few weeks, so we changed the studio event for the splash photography we had changed the week before. We 3 tanks set up and backdrops, we had to get the lighting set up. It took about 45 mins to get there, due to some technical issues, but once sorted, we were away and running. Some set ups had just one light, while others had two flash guns. Once the camera settings were in the camera and members had got their focus point, it was starting to drop items into the tank. Members had brought in apples, lemons, goggles, dice, go-pro cameras, and all looked fantastic in the water, surrounded by bubbles. Another popular night and we I enjoy running these sessions for the club.
